Lectures on intermediate public economics (undergraduate).
This is an intermediate course in public economics. In this course, we will study the traditional topics of public economics as well as some recent developments in political economy.
The first half of the course covers familiar topics of efficiency and equity, such as externalities and public goods provision. In the second half, on the other hand, we will cover the basic issues of political economy with a particular emphasis on voting mechanisms.
Class will meet on Fridays from 14:30 to 16:00.
It is preferable if calculus-based courses in microeconomics and macroeconomics were completed with the corresponding background in mathematics.
